I agree that we are smart intelligent women, but I do need to point out that not all men see us a sex objects. Also, we need men to create future generations.

I completely agree. We women need to make our voices heard. We shouldn't be embarrased about the stuff that goes on in our bodies and the media needs to present more realistic images such as body size and color. Why are only skinny white girls (no offense to white girls but we need some diversity!) on TV shows, especially for teens. Adult shows are more diverse, but teen shows not so much. Also what's wrong with being a feminist? Nothing. Ladies stand up for yourselves and your sisters! Take charge of your life, get involved in politics or business or science or technology. Change the world! I was upset by the fact that until this journal entry there were none on women's rights. I'm ashamed that I've never really actively worked to improve women's rights, but now one way I do fight for woemn's rights is by volunteering with the Obama campiagn. Obama respects a woman's right to choose and believes we all deserve equal pay! I encourage everyone to read The Leadership Gap by Marie Wilson.

Volunteer through Churches.

It's great that you volunteer and work to help people through your church! Many teens when searching for volunteer opportunities don't consider volunteering at their churches. Teens who attend churches (or don't) should read the weekly bulletin or weekly church news for volunteer opportunites. The same goes if you attend a synagogue. I'm sure synagogues also have many volunteer opportunities. Keep up the great work! We were put here to serve others!

The thought was good. But I don't think it's right to compare students to slaves. True we don't get paid for going to school (for our work) but not only did slaves not get paid, neither did indentured servants. I think we SHOULD be forced to go to school, but curriculums should be made more interesting, more relevant to our everyday life. We shouldn't be bored. We should feel safe at school. People need to stop bullying and harassing fellow students. Also schools (public) need better funding to offer better supplies, clubs and sports teams. Sports and other interests (drama, debate, activism, etc.) are just as important for a person's devlopment. Bottom line: Comparing a student to a slave is a bad comparison. We aren't whipped, we can worship however we wish, we are allowed to learn how to read and write, and most of us have better living conditions than slaves. Actually I'd say ALL of us live better than slaves. But it's an interesting thought. And I personlayy do think students should be paid to go to school, it's our job.

Our government needs to pay attention to Darfur and help end the genocide, and our schools need to inform us about what's going on there (many teens don't know where Darfur is {Sudan}, how the violence started and what they can do to help). It's going to do events like this and raise awarness about what's going on. Also more churches should get involved and send donations. I realize some schools, churches, synagogues, etc. do this, but more people need to speak out like you!

I thank you for this journal entry. You've inspired me to look up, know, and memorize my rights as a sutdent. We have no right to complain and then do nothing. If we are going to complain we must do something to change the object of our compliant and improve it. Teens can change the world! Bring it!
