As many people come to the U.S., the chances and opportunities for a better life in the most free nation of all, become less and less oportune. As a High School graduate from Boston, I see that many of the people who curently struggle as immigrants are the many students who came here not by choice but due to family that decided to come as a whole. In the past two years I have worked along with MIRA Coallition and Student Immigrant Movement (SIM), to try to create a better place in the U.S. for these immigrants who truly want to set roots in America after years lived here. Through group meetings that plan possible legislation, as well as by giving support to immigrant students who do not know what they can do even as Undocumented Immigants, fundraisers for immigrant causes, and my testimonials as a mmber of a very active group, I have been trying to develop a sense of knowledge in the people around me as to who immigrants really are and what potential they truly have. I have decided to work with this for it is something that I also went through, the fear that perhaps, because of the lack of opportunities, I may fail for being undocumented. I have been able to strengthen many friends through this, and this makes me feel very pleased with this work. Discuss this article on the forums. (0 posts)
