We've been told all my life that if you try and work really really hard on something, you'll get it! Remember the stories about patience we as kids used to read? That only the most dedicated people, those who are strong at heart win? Well that's easier said than done. I've worked and worked in trying to get my city to do something about the environment since I was 9. I can claim all the credit I want on the things I have done that the gov. has taken initiative, like in alternative sources of energy- I was not mention of course, but I tried and not it's being approved! That was the beginning, now it gets harder. I write call up agencies/ companies, I get put on hold, someone else picks up, I tell my story all over again, I get put on hold. This procedure repeats itself till I'm so frustrated, I hang up after telling them how helpful they have been. Sometimes I get lucky and get a call back, and talk. I write up a proposal and send it. No answer. Sometimes I get a letter telling me they appreciate my efforts but.... Once it got so far that I was 4 days from giving the speech and they cancelled it. I was prepared, they were not. Days later, I learned from inside sources that the students didn't even know about an assembly. I guess what I’m trying to say here, is that not everyone gets what they want. No matter how badly you want it, but on the bright side, if you stick with it and try again and again...once out of the million, you'll get a chance. Sometimes it's just pure luck, sometimes… but no matter how frustrated, disappointed or depressed you are, remember that there are other people out there that you might not know about that are trying really really hard just like yourself!
