The world is dying around us. And that is serious. Since I was ten years old I have found this obsession with Saving the Planet, with spreading the word, and changing how people think. When I was in fifth grade I dressed up as an environmental protester for Halloween. In the sixth grade I was a recycling fairy, and this past year (eighth grade) I was Miss Recycle.
But sometimes it's hard being someone who care. You don't necessarily have people backing you up and a lot of people will challenge you or test you on how eco-friendly you are. And people make fun of you.
In fifth grade I was called Eco-Freako, and Green Girl.
I talk about how I went to my Ecology/Biology/Conservation camp last year and we actually swam in detritus--MUD. People are disgusted. But that's my life. And with my life I want to save the world. I don't make a big point of saving the planet as a joke. I make that point because I care. And it's hard to get motivated when people don't believe you, or don't listen to what you say.
I want to save the world. Motivate me.
