The teacher brought the homosexuality subject by saying that 2 boys or 2 girls can't be boyfriends/girlfriends... Because they can't get married.... So I told him that there are some places where homosexuals can get married.... and he said that the union of two men or two women could not be called a marriage and then he said something about homosexuality being wrong(He didnt really said it... it was just implied..)... he also said that we were light teenagers for thinking it could be called marriage(when he described what a light teenage was, he said everything I am not... and neither are the ones that were defending gay marriage.... so he was totally wrong...)...... Then he brought up the reproduction issue... He said: "marriage is an institution where a man and a woman join and reproduce"..... not all heterosexual couples have kids...so if they dont have kids, their union cant be called marriage then... Then he spoke about how ancient greek and roman people saw gay people so normal, but that they didnt call it marriage.................. We had no clue what to say at that.................. but that they didnt call it marriage dont mean that we cant call it marriage..... For me, the union of 2 men or 2 women can be called a marriage........... Then the bell rang and we could finish the conversation..... And who is he to talk about marriage??.... marriage is for 2 people and he cheated on his wife!!!! So he cant speak about the sancticity of marriage..... Well, I do respect him for thinking that way... I dont agree with him on that..... but i have to respect him...... That doesnt mean I wont like his class anymore.... but I'll defend gay marriage whenever he brings it up.... that's the only thing I really believe in...... and he's not going to take that away from me..... no one will.................... The sociology teacher should be a little bit more open minded.... dont you think??? I have Class with him tomorrow, so I'll try to bring it up to make him realize that he is wrong...
Well, he is a teacher and whatever he says, he will be heard.... so if he thinks that way, the confused part of the class will take that...... Plus, gay rights is the only thing I truly believe in.... I am confused about everything else in my life.... but not this.... I am straight, but I want to fight to make people understand that we are all humans....
if the teacher ever brings up his arguments again tell him that u have every intention of filing a complaint to the school board and a requsition of his immediate teaching dismissal, that should keep him from ever doing that again.

I know the marriage issue is hot, but I don't understand what your teacher meant that gays can't date because they can't get married. Plenty of couples date without the intention of ever getting married. That logic doesn't make sense to me.

I read your post, and after words, I just had to sit back in disbelief. I don't understand how a teacher could tell students something like that. If it were me, I would have argued relentlessly.
I think this brings up something that perhaps we as students can create. I truly thing that Gay Straight Alliance groups help tremendously to allow people to become aware of exactly what it going on. Gays are people too, and they shouldn't be treated any differently.

I think this brings up something that perhaps we as students can create. I truly thing that Gay Straight Alliance groups help tremendously to allow people to become aware of exactly what it going on. Gays are people too, and they shouldn't be treated any differently.
