| Speak Up, Speak Out |

WINGS4.5out of 5Over the past couple of months my cities local politics have made multiple headlines in the Regional newscasts, for the division of our municipal council. As a college student I live four hours away from home, which restricts my ability to have an impact on what occurs. When I returned home this week for my spring break I decided that for the first time, I was going to speak out as a registered voter. I guess I should precede what I said with a little bit of a narrative. Discuss this article on the forums. (0 posts) I live in district one of Amesbury Massachusetts, a small community on the north shore of Massachusetts. Over the past couple of months there has been a grassroots effort to recall our district councilor Michelle Thone, Ms. Thone has repeatedly voted for things which will cause a poor effect on her constituents, as well as voting for her own conscience, she ignores her constituents and has practiced quite a bit of hate mongering politics. The President of the Council: Christopher Lawrence has played a huge roll in the division of the Municipal Council. He plays favorites with the six majority councilors who are part of a group which promotes the politics of failed mayoral candidate Tom Iacobucci. He has repeatedly gaveled Councilors Anne Connoly King and Roger Benson who in my opinion are the councilors who represent the true feelings of their constituents. That is the short story, if anyone has any questions about that feel free to e-mail me: This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it anyways here is my statement which I read to the Municipal Council: My name is Rory McCarron and I am a freshman in college, I voted for my first time in the recent gubernatorial campaign, however I have been active in politics for quite a while now. It has been a difficult couple of months living away from home while watching through the news and hearing from my mother what is unfolding here in my hometown. First of all, I am a resident of District One who is fully in support of the recall of Michelle Thone for her reckless and nonsensical voting record. Politicians who do not listen to the voice of reason are very dangerous to have in power, and Ms. Thone has shown a record of not listening to that voice of reason…most recently in the finance committee vote on the Police Budget.
